All positions except for the Secretary were up for election and the new board is a very strong dynamic group of people. During the AGM this year there was a bylaw amendment which altered the executive roles. Prior to their was one Vice-President, now there is a Vice-President - Governance and a Vice-President - Membership. This will help the organization continue to prosper and reach new heights.

The 2013-2014 FCP Board of Directors are as follows:

    Sandi Stetson - President
Sean Hillier (Pride Toronto) - Vice-President Governance
Jonathon Niemczak (Pride Winnipeg) - Vice-President Membership
Dustyn Baulkham (Vancouver Pride Society) - Treasurer
Doug Saunders (Previously of Capital Pride) - Secretary
Brice Field (Saskatoon Diversity Network) - Prairie Regional Director
Brandon Timmerman (Brockville Pride) - Central Canada Regional Director (Appointed after the AGM)
Kerry Bell (Pride Toronto) - Central Canada Regional Director
Brodie Fraser (previously of Capital Pride) - Central Canada Regional Director
Chris Scullino (Halifax Pride) - Atlantic Regional Director
Marion Steele (Halifax Pride) - Atlantic Regional Director

Presently we have three available Regional Director positions available. One in Prairie (Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba) and two available in Pacific (BC & Yukon). If you or anyone that you know who is currently or has previously been involved with a pride organization please contact Sandi Stetson at president@fiertecanadapride.org.

The Board of Directors of Fierté Canada Pride (FCP), together with InterPride, are extremely excited to announce a new joint membership program that covers all of Region 7 of InterPride (Canada). For more then a year, both organizations have been working hard on this partnership and are very pleased to share it with all of the Canadian Pride Organizations!

This new joint membership will create a simplified system that will enable Canadian Pride Organizations to work together on a national and international scale.  All organizations that are interested in being a member of either organization will complete the simple registration through FCP's website and pay online (in Canadian Dollars) via PayPal.  Our partnership will make FCP's membership fee structure simple and match that of InterPride's.

2013 will also be the first year that FCP takes membership 100% online. This will eliminate all paper that was used for membership application as well as having to mail in the forms with payment. All payments will be made via PayPal online and memberships will become active immediately after payment.

DEADLINE EXTENDED to Nov 14, 2012

A motion was made at the 2012 FCP Annual General Meeting in Kelowna to hold FCP conferences every two years rather than on an annual basis.  That motion was defeated.  As a result, there was no call for proposals to host the 2014 conference and no Pride organization has yet been awarded the privilege of hosting it.

Recognizing that Pride organizations which wish to bid on the 2014 conference should have as much time as possible to prepare their bid packages and the organization which is awarded the conference should have sufficient time to plan and prepare for the conference, the FCP board of directors is initiating this extraordinary process of requesting, receiving, evaluating and awarding bids.

Members of the FCP 2014 bid committee (the “Committee”) established by the FCP board include: Chris Ellis (Capital Pride and Central Region Representative), Dustyn Baulkham (Okanagan Pride and FCP 2012 Conference Chair) and Alan Chaffe (Capital Pride and FCP Treasurer).  If a member organization has a question about conferences or the bid process, please contact the Committee.

The updated Call for 2014 Conference & AGM Proposal can be downloaded here.
The full original Call for 2014 Conference & AGM Proposal can be downloaded here.

We are very excited to see where our 2014 Conference & AGM will take place.

We were deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic death of beloved activist, journalist and Fierté Canada Pride co-founder, Raymond Taavel, who was savagely murdered last night in Halifax.

The circumstances point to this being a hate crime committed by a seriously disturbed individual. Our hearts go out to Raymond's family and friends and we share the profound sense of loss and grief felt by the entire community. As co-founder of Fierté Canada

Pride, Raymond was instrumental in bringing Canadian Prides together and in strengthening the Pride movement across the country. His tireless dedication to equal rights for all, his intelligence and his open and generous spirit will be sorely missed.

An outdoor vigil was held on April 17, 2012 in front of Menz Bar, known as the "Heart of Halifax's Gay Village". To all those who were there to mourn, please know that our thoughts are with you and that we share your heartbreak in the face of this senseless and

    incomprehensible crime.

We will always remember Raymond with love and respect.

    Yours, in solidarity and Pride,

    The FCP Board of Directors
